- SolarPACES 2018 has been held in Casablanca (Morocco) from 2nd to 5th of October.
- Universidad Complutense de Madrid presented a poster entitled “Degradation of a commercial ternary molten salt under various atmospheres for CSP applications” that included some of results obtained in the frame of MSLOOP project.
From October 2 to 5, 2018, the 24th Annual SolarPACES Conference, SolarPACES2017, was successfully held in Casablanca (Morocco). With some 570 participants from 41 countries, SolarPACES 2018 was a great success. The conference brought together the main industry leaders, plant owners, manufacturers, suppliers and researchers related to CSP field.
The MSLOOP project, its activities, and some of its first results were presented to the audience during the poster sessions. Specifically, UCM presented a poster aiming at assessing the degradation and changes in physicochemical properties of a ternary molten salt mixture, commercially known as Hitec, under two atmospheres: nitrogen and air.
This work, entitled “Degradation of a commercial ternary molten salt under various atmospheres for CSP applications”, caught the attention of many attendants. Furthermore, this work raised many questions with attendants sharing diverse ideas and proposals, which led to interesting discussions during the poster session.
Attendants expressed their interest in knowing the current status of the research area, project goals, and expectations with respect to the project outcome. In view of the success and that favourable reception, the attendants were invited to attend the MSLOOP Dissemination Workshop that will be held at the end of the project in 2019.
Finally, Francisco Javier Pérez Trujillo, from UCM, who had the opportunity of making an oral presentation related to an innovative corrosion monitoring system, took that opportunity to show the results reached in MSLOOP projects regarding this system to all attendants. This presentation was successful and had great acceptance from all attendants and mainly from plant owners.
