On the 14th of February, The Foundation for Energy and Environmental Sustainability FUNSEAM visited the European project MSLOOP 2.0 located in the municipality Alcázar de San Juan, Ciudad Real.
The Foundation for Energy and Environmental Sustainability FUNSEAM is a non-profit institution whose primary mission is the development of activities in the area of energy and environmental sustainability. The Institution and the Chair of Energy Sustainability at the University of Barcelona collaborate with the prestigious business school of Peru ESAN in a training program for the different managers who are participating in the Master of Management of Energy. Within the framework of this collaboration, students visited the Parabolic Trough Prototype MSLOOP 2.0 project to learn about the reality and functioning of the main business agents.
The innovation department of Cobra Group was in charge of bringing the technological reality to FUNSEAM and ESAN. The visit served to show the innovation policy of Cobra Group through the MSLOOP 2.0 Project linked to the H2020. In addition, as an example of commercial reality, the visitors had the opportunity to visit the Solar Thermal Complex Manchasol. Manchasol is composed of two twin power plants, of 50 MWe each: Manchasol 1 and Manchasol 2. Each plant has a 510,120 m2 parabolic trough solar field of captive surface, and 7.5 hours of storage to generate 180,000 MWh/year. The complex is in operation since 2010 and has already generated 1,000 GWh of electricity and avoided 650,000 tn of CO2.
